You may have read on our website about the social mobility and diversity scholarship we founded earlier this year in partnership with the St. George’s University of London Afro-Caribbean Society and supported by the Royal College of Radiologists.

Promoting diversity is key to our company core values. With this annual award we aim to support and promote diversity in the field of medicine and radiology by providing mentorship and research project financial assistance to UK-based Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) medical students.
We’re very proud to finally announce the winner, Tom Jia, and runners-up for the Hexarad Scholarship 2021/2022.
We chatted to the successful candidates to find out what being involved with the Hexarad Scholarship means to them.

“I am incredibly honoured to be awarded the Hexarad scholarship, and can’t say enough how thankful I am to the team and also the RCR for supporting this!

Describing the opportunities that it offers as life-changing would be an understatement. I think it is truly unique in being able to help aspiring radiologists, especially those who lack the connections many already have, break into the field and get involved at such an early stage in their careers.

The team at Hexarad have been amazingly supportive, you can really see their dedication to promoting diversity! They truly go above and beyond every step of the way to help deliver this fantastic initiative.”

“Thank you so much for choosing me to be a runner-up of the Hexarad scholarship. The scholarship has provided me with an opportunity to explore the use of artificial intelligence within radiology and its future ramifications. Through this, I have gained an interest in medical technology and its inevitable role in different specialities. In the future, I hope to improve future medical technologies to advance patient-centred care.”
